Expertise Description: Ph.D., P.E. - Acoustical engineer experienced in environmental noise assessment and control, gunfire and explosives noise, airport, helicopter, and roadway noise, audibility of signals and warning devices, music venue noise, industrial noise assessment and control, human and community response to noise, measurement and monitoring of noise, architectural acoustics and building acoustics measurements, general acoustics, as well as, international laws, regulations and practices.
Representative Litigation Experience:
  • Wrongful death - did the glass break detector go to alarm when the murderer broke the sliding glass door and entered house?
  • Wrongful death - did the fireman's PASS alarm trigger and function correctly, and did it produce at least the specified sound system at the specified distance?
  • Wrongful death - how loud would the alarm system have been in two specified sleeping areas had the system been operating?
  • Personal injury - was the siren sound level loud enough to warn plaintiff at a distance far enough from the intersection that the plaintiff had time to react?
  • Noise nuisance - were the shaft-ventilation-blow-fan noise levels at a community 1 mile distance from the fan, and were those levels of noise a nuisance?
  • Excessive noise - what were the ventilation-fan noise levels at plaintiff's home, and did those levels exceed the relevant Illinois State limits?
  • Airport noise - noise levels produced by aircraft operations, did they exceed the state limit?
