Expertise Description

I have been working for over 15 years in the field of Fire Protection with a focus on fire and explosion phenomena and their interaction with both the built and natural environment. I performed hundreds of fire, explosion, and toxic exposure investigations in industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and residential spaces. My specialties include evaluating post-incident scenes and determining the source of ignition, the toxic spread of smoke and gasses, and the thermal or blast wave conditions that led to a loss. I am knowledgeable in the application of empirical and computational fluid dynamic models for event reconstruction and have published peer-reviewed articles on the subject. My skills also include how safety can be improved at a facility through the use of quantitative risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and performance-based design. I have also spent more than 15 years as a fire protection expert witness in Maryland by providing numerous clients with courtroom testimony, deposition, and consultations.
