Expertise Description

I have more than 35 years in Textiles. My fields of expertise include: modeling and optimization of textile manufacturing processes; appraisal of new manufacturing technologies and their products; development of new test methods for the evaluation of raw materials and end products; and the application of design experiments and analysis of variance techniques for process enhancement. I also focus on product development and evaluation of engineered fibrous products for unconventional end uses involving healthcare, construction, automotive, and filtration and other industrial applications. As a teacher, I have taught theory and lab courses on yarn formation, weaving, knitting, nonwovens, physical testing, and quality control. I have over 10 years of expert witness experience with consultation, deposition, and courtroom testimony.

Areas of Expertise


Expert Witness

I have experience providing expert services to three different textile mills on part- time basis. Services rendered include technical trouble shooting, product and process optimization, planning for modernization and renovation, preparation of feasibility reports and interaction with the technical staff of the mills.


Consulting Experience

My consulting work includes providing technical consultation for manufacturers of polymers, fibers, yarns, fabrics, garments and other miscellaneous fiber-based products, including nonwovens and technical textiles.


Professional Experiences

My professional experience includes conducting basic research in the areas of textile manufacturing and testing and served as the main adviser of several graduate students who completed MS and PhD degrees in textile engineering. I have presented in more than 50 national and international conferences and also published more than 35 refereed papers in national and international research journals.


Relevant Experiences

I have handled hot pressing equipment used in garment manufacturing plants and I am familiar with the design of equipment supplied by some of the manufacturers of these equipment. I have also provided court room testimony and deposition for litigation involving equipment related injuries.
 
At a major tech university, I am in-charge of 10 different laboratories and I also serve as the safety coordinator of my school. In this role, I inspect nearly 30 different labs every year and certify them for safety. I am familiar with the OSHA rules related to machine and equipment safety.
