I have extensive experience with tax shelters. As a CPA serving ultra-high net worth clients, I have been on the leading edge of tax planning for the last 30 years and have seen many kinds of tax shelters. I have testified for both plaintiffs and defendants in tax shelter cases. The most notable were the KPMG abusive tax shelters of 2002-2004 where I represented plaintiffs. I have also worked with clients in tax planning for transfer of NOL’s without violating IRC Section 382. Tax planning is what I do, and knowing where the legal limits are is crucial to making a plan work. I have also criticized “more likely than not“ tax opinions that did not stand up to IRS attack.
