Expertise DescriptionI have more than 30 years experience in the field of Agriculture and Farm Management. I am an Accredited Farm Manager, Rural Appraiser and Certified Professional Agronomist with experience in agricultural consulting, farm management, rural appraisal, and farm resource development. My expertise consists of farming practices, land use and farmland value, pest management, crop losses, agricultural leasing practices, bankruptcies, projected crop income and expenses, and other agricultural topics. I have over 25 years expert witness experience with consultations, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes dispute over lease terms, rent, and farming practices on a wheat farms of several thousand acres; value lost when asparagus was not able to be picked & packed due to an equipment accident that rendered the packing line not usable; carious lease terms and crop value lost when landlord terminated an agricultural lease prematurely die to sale or irrigation water; processing, harvesting, and haul of tomatoes to the cannery; current economics of apple production; eminent domain.
My consulting services include lecturer at University level in the topics of farm and rural resources appraisal, on professional farm appraisal.
I do a lot of agricultural loss and lost profits work. I also have testified about crop water needs, and can address any causation issues arising from the loss of the access to the well- water.
I have testified numerous times on crop losses over the past 30 years or so. My expertise is in both agronomy and economics, so I cover the subject from both the production as well as the sales and profitability ends.
My expertise is in pavement design, highway design, rehabilitation and construction. Also, I have done QC/QA work, specifications and cost estimating on highway projects. I have a masters degree in construction engineering and a Ph.D. in pavement engineering. I have 20 years of experience working with Caltrans in this field and 6 years as a private consultant.
As an agricultural economist, I have worked on many economic damages cases, including ones involving silage and hay. I have testified in court over 30 times on a variety of agricultural issues, including damages claims. I have also appraised dairies in the past and worked on other real estate issues regarding dairies. My strength comes from being a farmer, an agronomist, and an agricultural economist.
