Expertise DescriptionI have over 25 years of experience in the fields of electronics and electrical engineering research, development, and design. My extensive expertise includes integrated circuits (ICs), ASICS, intellectual property, and semiconductors designed in nanometer and deep submicron silicon CMOS, SiGe, and Si bipolar technologies. My research, design, layout ,and test skills include analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, analog to digital converters (DACs) for test equipment, industrial and consumer electronics, SERDES blocks for ultra-high speed datacom and telcom. I co-invented the CMOS optical sensor IC that has sold over 1 billion ICs for a company. My multi-faceted analysis approach has uncovered hidden design details applicable to forensic analysis. My expertise has been utilized in disciplines from data converters to medical devices. I have been awarded multiple patents, spoken at major conferences, published in refereed journals and a publication was deemed an “influential” paper by being cited over a 100 times. I was recommended for a patent review committee. I have experience with consultations.
Areas of Expertise
My consulting experience includes design and reliability review of 8-bit, 64Gsample/s ADC in nanometer CMOS SOL. I have identified issues, proposed, and implemented solutions, as well as proposed built-in self-test (BIST) in 8-bit, 64Gsample/s DAC. I have verified SiGe BiCMOS and III-V laser drivers and Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIAs), proposed improvements for increased reliability and lifetime in multi-terabit/sec data links. I have also reviewed product design and proposed solutions to design issues in medical devices.
My professional experience includes mixed-signal and precision analog IC design experience in nanometer, deep sub-micron and SOI CMOS, GaAs, InP, HBT and Si bipolar technologies. I have done research and advanced development that led to the invention of the patented optical image sensor IC utilized in an optical mouse chip that has sold over 1 billion units. A high performance, high speed ADC was invented for A vector network analyzer. Multi-giagbit/s ICs were invented for data links and test equipment. Multiple IC blocks including band gap voltage references and analog level-shifters were invented and the IP was patented as precision, programmable analog cores for inclusion in SOCs. ADCs designed were considered for patents and are in production in Power Manager ICs (PMICs). High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) IP was invented and designed in deep sub-micron CMOS.
My recent work has been in ultra-high speed data transmission, Terabits/sec, as well as for the medical devices industry.
I was recommended for the CTO’s patent review committee at a leading electronics manufacturer.
I hold numerous patents, including an analog to digital converter for my Ph.D. thesis that was deemed innovative and of industry importance by a distinguished university.
