I have defended several municipalities accused of substandard care by the jail doctor and the guards, and have also been on plaintiff’s side in several such cases. I will not be allowed to opine about heroin metabolism. That would require a toxicologist, but I would be allowed to opine about treatment by the jail doctor that was done or should have been done, as exemplified by what we do in the ED.
