Expertise DescriptionI have worked as an employment law expert for more than 30 years, and as an HR practices expert for over 15 years. I have worked as a litigator, investigator, advisor, trainer and author. After more than 15 years of litigation, I began doing HR compliance audits and consulting, and eventually built and sold HRThatWorks to ThinkHR in 2014. I have spoken hundreds of times to HR groups and CEO groups about compliance and great HR practices. I have created HR training programs for LinkedIn Learning and also created the GreatHR program. I also coach HR executives. I have prior experience offering my services as an employment law expert witness.
Areas of Expertise
I have been designated as an expert witness on three occasions. Never deposed or went to trial. All 3 cases settled. One case related to employee vs independent contractor, one related to quality of an investigation, and one related to wrongful termination/race discrimination.
Extensive Compliance/HR consulting work. I created the 50-state employee handbook template for ThinkHR. I have helped design or review more than 100 employee handbooks. Extensive employment practices auditing experience. Helped manage compliance concerns, resolved employee conflict situations. Also created HRThatWorks, an online HR program used by more than 3,000 companies when I sold it to ThinkHR, where I was VP for two years.
Employment law attorney since 1983. 17 years of litigation, mostly on the plaintiff’s side. Some defense cases at end of litigation days. After litigation became a Certified Professional Consultant to Management. Then started HRThatWorks which I ran for 12 years before selling it to ThinkHR in 2014.
Conducted numerous investigations and current Member, Association of Workplace Investigators.
Also ran a high-end HR forum/mastermind group for 5 years.
Done more than 400 workshops to Vistage CEO’s and executives about managing the workplace. Dozens of workshops for HR and risk management groups. 10 training programs for LinkedIn Learning. GreatHR program for Forbes Learning. Dozens of California AB1825 sexual harassment workshops.
