Expertise DescriptionI have over 50 years experience in Endocrinology with expertise in the hormonal regulation of calcium metabolism, and specializing in projects involving bone (focusing on the mechanisms by which parathyroid hormone and insulin like growth factor-1 regulate bone formation and differentiation, the response of bone to mechanical loading and unloading, and the ability of bone to heal fractures, osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency and osteomalacia, calcium malabsorption, parathyroid diseases, and kidney disease) as well as projects involving skin (calcium and keratinocyte differentiation, wounding repair, and skin cancer development). I have additional knowledge in the molecular mechanisms of action of the vitamin D receptor, the hormonal regulation of bone development and remodeling, and hormonal disorders of bone mineral metabolism including vitamin D deficiency. I have 5 years expert witness experience.
