Expertise DescriptionI have more than 15 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering. As a Professor, my teaching strengths include the energy sciences such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics, and engineering mechanics such as the fundamentals of mechanical design, strength of materials, and statics. Research has included a project focused on developing and testing alternative fueled engines utilizing advanced combustion methods, development of a 50hp two –stroke spark ignition engine that operates on heavy fuel such as JP-8 and synthetic diesel generated from natural gas, and attempting to establish a research project focusing on identifying best practices for the teaching of STEM classes, specifically thermo science. I have prior expert witness experience with consultation and depositions.
Areas of Expertise
I am an Assistant Professor and my teaching strengths are the energy sciences such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics, and engineering mechanics such as Fundamentals of Mechanical Design, Strength of
Materials, and Statics. Strong student evaluation scores received for all courses taught.
I have considerable experience designing, analyzing, and evaluating mechanical and electrical systems as well as hands on experience determining the root cause of failures. I have analyzed failures in the automotive, airplane, and testing systems industries.
I do have quite a bit of experience with electro mechanical systems.
I spent the past 7 years researching internal combustion engines and the interactions between a fuel system’s settings (computer algorithm) and the resulting performance and emissions of the engine. While this research has been focused mostly on spark ignited engines, I am also well versed in the relationship between the fuel system control and the performance and emissions of diesel engines. I am also well experienced in the procedures and practices of EPA emissions testing.
