Expertise DescriptionI have over 20 years technology experience and have worked extensively with advanced carrier and enterprise networks, hardware and software architectures, cybersecurity, optical and photonic networks, wireless & mobile technology, video/audio coding, cloud computing and predictive data analytics. I have provided consultations, courtroom testimony, and deposition as an electrical engineering and advanced technology expert witness for more than 20 years.
Areas of Expertise
I have held senior executive positions in engineering, operations, general management and R&D with several top technology companies, one where I was leading advances in digital transmission systems including wireless and optical communication systems. I have been appointed to a committee whose mission is to provide the U.S. president and U.S. Government the best available industry advice and guidance in areas such as cybersecurity, telecommunications, cloud computing, mobility, big data analytics and critical infrastructure protection. I have been the President of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board at a prestigious university. I have served as a Chief Technology Officer at a company where I am responsible for advanced technology, product development, operations and service delivery. Previously I was Director of Advanced Technology at another notable company, where I lead a world-class advanced technology organization and managed a global team of top-talent researchers and engineers in US, Canada, UK, Sweden and Australia, covering strategic technology thrusts, including advanced wireless, optical and enterprise networks. I was responsible for key technology programs and innovations, P&L, operations, product development, and a $23 million budget. I received my Masters in General Administration and BS in Electrical Engineering.
Cybersecurity technology, policy, practices and standards are in the sweet spot area of my expertise. In my present job as a CTO and VP of Engineering at Communication Technologies I lead and manage development and implementation of the large, global Web-centric cloud-based applications where cybersecurity is often number one priority.
I am a recognized cybersecurity technology and policy subject matter expert. I have been continuously appointed to the U.S, President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) since 2012. I have co-authored all NSTAC recommendations to the President of the U.S. since 2012.
I have a background that covers large-scale wireless networks, video over wireless networks, program management experience on large technology programs, including large-scale networks, experience with security-related government programs and extensive advanced technology background. I currently serve as a Chief Technology Officer at a Virginia based federal government systems integrator. I worked in Nortel where I was director of Advanced Technology. I've been appointed to the US President's NSTAC – National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee as an SME over the past five years.
