Expertise DescriptionI have more than 40 years experience in the field of Industrial Hygiene and Safety. My areas of expertise include: accident investigation systems in industrial facilities, exposure assessment strategies, reconstructing exposures, Cal/OSHA, and environmental hygiene. I have a thorough knowledge of federal and state environmental and worker medical, health and safety regulations. My experience also includes confined space entry and confined space work plans, as well as the management of numerous programs to evaluate and ensure regulatory compliance. I have over 35 years expert witness experience with consultations, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes: Habitability issues in rental properties; Occupational exposures to asbestos, silica: evaluation and estimating past exposures; Causation analysis of fall injuries involving ladders; Mold and moisture intrusion involving construction defects; Odor investigations to determine source and prepare remedial action plan; Carbon monoxide exposure investigation.
My consulting services include: Occupational exposure evaluation to noise and airborne contaminants; Machine guarding analysis and recommendations; Occupational exposure monitoring on hazardous waste site remediation for noise, silica, VOC, pesticides, PCB and other airborne contaminants; Preparation of air emission reports; Preparation of new source permit applications.
I have experience with thermal stress and heat management with astronauts and hazardous waste site workers.
I have done many habitability related cases involving mold and moisture; insect infestations; general habitability issues including cases involving children exposed to lead-based paint, carbon monoxide exposure, gas leaks, and more. I have provided expert testimony for both plaintiffs and defendants.
I was the USAF expert in lasers and wrote the Air Force manual on laser safety.
I have investigated over 700 mold and moisture cases, many involving wood.
I have had several successes in odor cases involving identifying and controlling odor emission.
I have 10 years of experience with Cal/OSHA on various assignments and an electrical engineering background.
I have written many confined space entry work plans and health and safety plans and am very familiar with the California codes.
I have conducted OSHA investigations involving dockside loading and unloading vessels in Worldport Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbor.
