Expertise Description

I have been working for more then 30 years in the field of Equine Science with a particular focus in equine nutrition and physiology, feeding and ration formulation, energy balance, glucose and insulin metabolism and exercise. I have additional experience in market and requirement for monocalcium phosphate supplements in equine feeds. I have also worked with glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity and regulation of glycogen re-synthesis after strenuous exercise.

Areas of Expertise

Professional Experiences

I have been involved in the equine industry initially as a participant and competitor, and now as an educator and researcher, for more than 30 years. I have extensive practical experience in the horse industry (primarily hunter/jumper, some thoroughbred racing), feeding and ration formulation (both as a consultant for commercial feed companies and as private consultant to individual horse owners and farms), education (graduate and undergraduate teaching in equine science and nutrition) and research. While my research is primarily involved in energy balance, glucose/insulin metabolism and exercise physiology, I consider myself an expert in all areas of equine nutrition and physiology. I am well aware of the market and requirement for monocalcium phosphate supplements in equine feeds, though I am less familiar with the area of glass or glass or contamination that maybe involved in its manufacturing.
