I have over 10 years of experience in industrial controls. I was founder and CTO of a company providing advanced motion control for industrial cranes and robotic material handling systems. In this capacity I architected technologies now well-known for enhancing crane-ease-of-use and safety. These have been adopted by Caterpillar, Cummins, Johnson Controls, GM, Hyundai, Toyota, Ford, Kia, Alcoa, Novelis and other first-tier manufacturers. I have extensive experience in motion control, dynamics, vibration, PLCs, system design, machine vision, and photogrammetry. I am an active lecturer on various mechanical and controls engineering topics including The Design Process, Advanced Motion Control, Mechatronics, and Engineering Intellectual Property. I have presented invited talks at premiere institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Kumoh National University of Technology, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Hyung Hee University, and others. I have published numerous refereed journal and conference articles pertaining to industrial motion control and human factors in crane control, and hold one patent related to crane control. A second application has been submitted. I am engaged in directing research efforts investigating crane control, motion planning, crane safety systems, and collision avoidance. I have also worked as an industrial crane controls expert witness in Georgia.
I have over 35 years experience in diesel fuel systems. I have experience with design, specification, installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, project management and inspections of diesel fuel systems for emergency backup generators and boilers. My areas of expertise also include pipe sizing, pump sizing, pump flow calculations; vent sizing; pressure calculations, overpressure alarms and sequences of operations, and back pressure devices.
I have more than 25 years experience in the field of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), System Integration, and Industrial Control Systems. I have a strong technical background in SCADA and PLC computer-based industrial controls and networks. I have extensive experience with hardware and software, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC and SLC), graphical interface products, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). I have experience with Pharmaceutical Current Good Manufacturing (cGMP) environment and Validation of computer software for Biotechnology process controls. My additional experience involves electronic Microsystems development with embedded software and design of innovative high-tech systems and products that support diverse industries, including medical equipment, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, environmental, petroleum (gas), pharmaceuticals, and engraving equipment. My consultations include the defense industry with satellite communications, navigation computers used on Polaris submarines, and navigation computers for aircrafts. My other experience consists of feasibility studies, engineering reviews, business plan development, market evaluation, funding research, patent application, and corporate evaluations for venture capital.
