ForensisGroup Undersea Cable (or “Submarine Cable”) Expert Witnesses specialize with the wires at the bottom of the ocean called submarine communications cables. These cables transmit 99% of international data and are hundreds of thousands of miles long and thousands of feet below the surface.
Our experts work with the installation of undersea cables, which are laid by special boats called cable-layers for those cables at greater depths and with high-pressure water jets for cables in shallow waters.
Our experts have degrees in a marine science-related fields like geology, geophysics, or oceanography and have many years of applied marine science field experience. Some have master’s degrees in a geomatics related field, such as hydrography, surveying, or engineering and experience in applied hydrographic fields.
They work on O&G infrastructure projects, submarine cable/pipeline routing, civil engineering, and environmental assessment projects. They have backgrounds in nautical charting, dredging, and marine shallow hazards surveys. Our submarine cable experts also have working knowledge of geophysical data acquisition systems and software including side scan sonars, subbottom profilers, and magnetometers, along with knowledge of operation and deployment of high-resolution multi-channel and software packages such as SonarWiz, SonarPro, Geosuite, GeoFusion, and Global Mapper.
