Forestry/Arborist Expert Witnesses

Forestry Expert Witnesses are highly experienced with the researching, maintaining, and consumption of natural resources linked to and derived from forest lands.

Forestry is a multi-disciplinary expertise which involves protecting, conserving, and managing forests, tree plantations, and other natural resources. This includes the management of many aspects beyond timber, such as biodiversity, wildlife habitat, water quality, and the stability of the community.

Forestry expert witnesses have years of experience specializing in the understanding and management of forests. Some have expertise in writing state permitted plans that describe how forests will be managed while protecting beneficial uses of water, forest health, wildlife, recreation, biodiversity and aesthetics. Others specialize in genetics, forest ecology, wildfire science, watershed management, forest pathology, entomology, plant biology, conservation and forest policy.

We also represent experts with experience in forest valuation and appraisal, timber harvest modeling, forest economics, forest growth and yield, forest biometrics and timberland management, acquisition and disposition. These forestry experts have consulted in the administration of forest logging operations, forest ecology research, and fuel reduction treatments (thinning, prescribed burning, and pruning).

Many of these forestry professionals are members of the Society of American Foresters.

Arborist expert witnesses may be sought out for litigation cases, as the term refers to individuals tasked with the maintenance, planting, cultivation, and scientific study of trees, which are found in a high number of areas. Arborist expert witnesses may provide valuable insight for cases involving such issues as landscaping, arboriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture, ecology, agriculture, plant pathology, tree preservation, forestry, landscape contracting, environmental remediation, and other related areas, as each may be at the focus of an arborist-related lawsuit.

Arborist experts are often experienced with pest control and agricultural pest management, since tree safety may be threatened by the presence of various pests. Other means of tree safety include urban tree management, as building projects may affect inventory control for the trees in or around the area, which must be regulated by proper construction management.

Arborist expert witnesses may also have a background in landscaping, which often involves working with trees and other types of vegetation. Regulating such landscaping practices as irrigation, drainage, grading, and pruning are very important for tree safety. Arborist experts may also have knowledge of tree propagation, plant pathology, ornamental horticulture, crop production, tree appraisal, planting plans, and plant nurseries, as well as other related issues. Arborist experts may also be asked to provide an expert opinion based on the findings of a tree accident investigation.

Our commitment to knowing each expert and what makes them perfect for your case will save you and your clients time and money while providing peace of mind.
