Empowerment Through Education
Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
Our mission is to empower the poorest of the poor in developing countries by giving the gift of education to those who exhibit ambition, drive, and a willingness to work hard. This is a mission that our CEO & President, Mercy Tolentino Steenwyk, has embarked on for the last 25 years. Starting with one scholar in 1992 who pursued Education, the Program has since graduated several dozens of students in the fields of engineering, commerce, education, accounting, and several vocational courses. At any given time, the Program has 48 scholars in all levels of education. Students come from the Philippines where the poor do not have easy access to any means of pursuing education, but, where lies the hope for a better life. Educating one child uplifts the quality of life of the whole family. Empowerment Through Education enables the educated sibling to be in a better position to help parents in providing for the family, including sending other siblings to school. ForensisGroup aims to empower the poor and keep the hope alive one educated child and one family at a time.
Keeping All Children Healthy
66 million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world.
-World Food Programme
Our mission is to help eliminate malnutrition of children in developing countries one community at a time with food, vitamins, and medicine. This program was started in one of President & CEO Mercy Tolentino Steenwyk’s visits in the Philippines in 2010, when she witnessed the dire need to help undernourished children in the town of Lubao in the province of Pampanga. Meals which consist of rice, noodles, fish, meat, and vegetables are prepared two times a week and brought to the health center of the town where all undernourished children can partake. Medicine and vitamins are also distributed to the families.
Spreading the Joy of the Holiday Season
We can do no great things – only small things with great love.
People around the world celebrate the holiday season by gathering family, friends and loved ones to partake in the most sumptuous meal of the year. Among the poorest of the poor where food is scarce, this is not an easy task. ForensisGroup wants to celebrate the holiday season by sharing special holiday foods with those who cannot afford to buy them. Every holiday season, we give away 100 food bags to the poor of San Nicolas 1st, a barrio in the Philippines. The bags contain some of their favorite foods to have in their “noche buena,” celebrated after the 12 midnight holiday mass. Contents of the holiday bag include ham, cheese, coffee, bread, sugar, canned goods and candies. These are foods that are ordinary for most people, but, for them, these are so special that they are only enjoyed on holidays.
