As a Civil Engineer, general contractor, and person responsible for safety on many projects, I have considerable experience with the issues in this case. I have supervised many projects that use scaffolding and was the general contractor for my own hillside residence. Also, I have been an expert witness on several jobsite injury cases involving scaffolding. Notwithstanding all of the above, I am not a scaffolding specialist, and therefore would approach the case from the point of view of an owner and general contractor who is very familiar with standards of care for the work described.
I have been in the development and construction business for 39 years, and have developed and built numerous residential and commercial projects. In addition, I have taught development and construction (including Entitlements) at multiple universities.
As a consultant, I have worked on numerous injury cases, including some involving falls from roofs, and a few involving falls through openings in roofs. I am very familiar with Standards of Care for construction jobsites.
My forensic caseload is split about evenly between plaintiff and defense. I have several attorneys available as references. Both general litigators and Personal Injury specialists.
I have been a Civil Engineer and a General Contractor in California since 1980. I have also worked in Property Management, and been a forensic consultant on many cases involving Personal Injuries. In those capacities I have worked on several hundred projects, ranging from single family to multi-family, to commercial projects.
For most of those projects, I have been the individual responsible for safety and for code compliance. In addition, I was the Project Manager for a large multi-family project in Los Angeles that included the design and construction of a playground.
