Expertise DescriptionI have more than 25 years of experience in due diligence (investments), global electronics manufacturing of medical, automotive electronics, communications equipment, and other advanced technology products. Since 1999, I have worked as an independent consultant to major corporations on key issues related to electronic manufacturing services (EMS). I offer my clients an uncommon set of experience and skills - broad industry knowledge; world-class research and analysis, contract preparation, creative and persuasive report writing, all needed for successful results in complex litigation projects. I have experience with PCBA/SMT production, supply chain management, cost reduction, new product introduction (NPI), contract negotiation, business consulting, and have provided important first-hand foundational understanding of outsourcing risks and opportunities. I have over 5 years expert witness experience with consultations and deposition.
Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes: class action with forensic review of internal and external documents over several years to assess allegations of fraud against a public electronic manufacturing services (EMS) company in a compliant filed by institutional investors; breach of contract with assessment of EMS supplier/customer contract termination costs related to excess inventory, added manufacturing costs, loss of sales, and profits; pre-litigation with assessment of EMS supplier damages due to its major customer forecast reduction and subsequent purchase order cancellation for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
My consulting experience includes: finding the right contract manufacturer with requirements analysis, RFQ guidance, in-depth factory audits, financial analysis and other supplier risk assessment work to evaluate EMS providers for a leading storage products company, and created contract draft and assisted in price negotiation; assessing the feasibility of outsourcing, a Fortune 500 company wanted to understand the financial impact of outsourcing their complex electro-mechanical equipment to a tier-1 EMS supplier. Work included in-depth survey of the client’s production sites in the US, Asia and Europe; then, multi-year cost modeling of best/worst case differences in product costs and cash flows.
