Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes providing legal advisory services and expert testimony in regards to healthcare.
My professional experience includes being Principal at a healthcare consultancy and President of a health system, with prior experience as President and Chief Executive Officer of a hospital and health system.
As a hospital and health system CEO for over 25 years, I have considerable experience in the standards of care required when a suicidal patient presents in the ED. In my last CEO position, our system included an inpatient psychiatric unit for adults as well as a special unit for cognitively impaired patients. In both these units, I had procedures and policies to ensure the safety of all patients with special attention to those identified as suicidal or potentially suicidal.
As a hospital and health system CEO for many years, I am quite knowledgeable and an expert regarding the hiring of emergency room physicians, either by staffing companies or by the hospital directly. The relationships between a staffing company and the doctors they provide to ERs (usually independent contractors) are well known to me.
As a health system CEO for many years, I am very familiar with and conversant with the standards of care in all levels of facilities including residential homes, skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, acute care hospitals, etc.
I am well qualified to offer opinions and comments regarding the standard of care regarding transferring patients and the need for continuity and quality of care during the transfer process.
