Expertise DescriptionI have over 40 years experience involving design engineering, project management, and construction management of industrial power generation, cogeneration, standby emergency power units, emergency diesel generators, and gas turbine generation systems. I specialize in analytical services relating to plant performance, monitoring, control, fuel processing, and safety. My particular expertise for projects involve industrial gas turbines, such as Allison 501/570 series in standby power and cogeneration applications, and for stationary power generation and marine propulsion using large diesel engines such as ElectroMotive Diesels in both diesel electric and diesel reduction configurations. I have experience in application and special project modifications of micro-turbines for power generation and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) applications. My special expertise includes interpretation of and conformance to codes and standards as applicable to power generation and marine propulsion fields, including NFPA-70 (National Electric Code), ASME, ASTM, ANSI, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR's). I have special training and experience in systems integration, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and system level reliability analysis. I have more than 25 years expert witness experience with consultations, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
Areas of Expertise
I am mainly a power and big machine guy. My focus is on standby power, support for UPS battery systems, chiller related engineering and operations, etc. The referenced standard is (I believe, have not looked lately) mainly a cabling specification. I have been involved in figuring out heat loading and electrical noise on such circuits when asked.
