My experience as an underwriter took place at the beginning of my insurance career and lasted for seven years during which time I handled casualty insurance coverages primarily (workers’ compensation, automobile, general liability, umbrella/excess liability, crime coverages). As a broker for twenty-five years I negotiated both casualty and property insurance placements with insurance company underwriters on behalf of my clients, so I have seen underwriting from both sides of the transaction.
