Mechanical Engineering Expert 517852 CA(S)

Expertise Description

I have more than 20 years of experience in Mechanical engineering. As a Professor, I teach and do research on topics within the field. My current research activities include the development and use of micro-resolution particle image velocimetry (PIV) for measuring velocity fields in micro-scale flows, as well as the development of ac electrokinetic-based techniques for enhancing immunoassays and stem cell culturing, Ti-based thermal ground planes for cooling IC chips, and the development of free surface fluidics (FSF) and combining with SERS for trace chemical detection. I have over 10 years of expert witness experience with consultations and deposition.

Areas of Expertise

Expert Witness

My expert witness experience includes writing an opening report and a rebuttal report to discuss my opinions relating to microfluidics-based technology. I also have experience with patent claims and conducted a series of experiments to test whether a mechanism described in a patent was actually being practiced by the client.

Professional Experiences

I am a professor of Mechanical Engineering at a university. I completed my PhD and Postdoctoral work at a university in June of 1995. My research involved the investigation of turbulent flows. Since 1996, my research has focused on developing microfluidic devices and exploring their fundamental transport mechanisms. My group pioneered the concept of free-surface microfluidics. I have worked in collaboration with other professors and their respective students to develop a novel technique for measuring gas-phase chemicals with very high sensitivity. I am also the President and CEO of a company and am leading a technical team. I have experience solving problems ranging from fundamental microfluidics research to analysis of commercial products.
