Expertise DescriptionI have more than 10 years of experience in the social work, counseling, psychotherapy therapy fields. I am a former employee of the Department of Veterans Affairs where I worked extensively with veterans who were suffering from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of combat and/or military sexual trauma. I provided individual and group therapy, treating a variety of mental health concerns. Presently, I am a faculty member at a large, private, non-profit university where I serve as a department chair and faculty member in the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies.

My professional experience includes Department Chair and Faculty Member in Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies at a university. I have also been an employee with Department of Veterans Affairs, providing mental health social work services, specializing in the treatment of PTSD and anger, and offering psychotherapy services to veterans with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral health concerns.
I am a licensed social worker and have worked in mental health for veterans. I was trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, which is one of three evidence based therapies the Department of Veterans Affairs utilizes for the treatment of PTSD. I facilitated individual and group psychotherapy utilizing CPT for the treatment of veterans with PTSD. I have presented on this topic at numerous state and national conferences.
