My expert witness experience includes: Railroad, vehicle, or pedestrian accident reconstruction; Locomotive design and failure analysis; Rough riding locomotive, handbrake, and rail car failure analysis; Railroad derailment and grade crossing; Metal component failure analysis – personal injury; Product liability; Surface Transportation Board (STB) fuel consumption; New product development and patent cases; Rail car, truck, and automobile brake design and analysis.
My consulting services include: Diesel engine component design – crankshaft, power assembly, fuel system, exhaust system; Diesel engine failure analysis and design; Forging and casting design; New product and metallurgical component design.
I am a metallurgical engineering, P. E.. I have been an engineering consultant for over seventeen years with many cases, around forty depositions, and over eight trials. I also have consulted for over thirty companies on non-litigation projects.
I have been a manager of diesel engine design and as such, I have designed and tested pressure relief valves on diesel engines. I have also performed failure analysis on railroad tank cars and their pressure requirements. I have design reviewed and approved and evaluated many tank car and locomotive warning stickers and labels in my career.
