Expertise Description

I have more than 40 years of experience primarily in the field of failure analysis and predicting degradation and environmental compatibility of power plant materials under a variety of operating conditions. My experience includes corrosion and environmentally assisted cracking in BWR, PWR, and various raw water environments, and embrittlement of pressure vessel steels and high performance alloys. I am a recognized authority on microbiologically influenced corrosion and have authored reference documents on that topic. I typically perform a dozen or more metallurgical and corrosion assessments per year in addition to roughly half that many hand-on failure analyses. I have performed failure analyses and field investigations on a wide variety of power plant and other industrial components including piping and heat exchangers, pumps and valves, steam and combustion turbines, large electrical transmission towers, chemical processing vessels, steel cables and high performance fiber lifting slings, and industrial washing machines. I have over 20 years of expert witness experience with consultation, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
