Expertise DescriptionI have more than 15 years as a Microbiologist with extensive laboratory and field experience, particularly in microbial ecology, molecular biology, and microbial physiology. I am highly organized, capable of managing multiple multidisciplinary research projects and teams. As an Instructor, I am responsible for developing and integrating molecular microbial ecology with the multidisciplinary field of geobiology. I have experience with microbial ecology of managed systems, microbial natural products discovery, and metabolic engineering of microbial catalysts.
Areas of Expertise
I am an Associate Professor of Microbiology who has been conducting environmental and laboratory-based research for 15 years as a Ph.D. In this research, I routinely use molecular and cultivation-based methods to quantify and characterize bacteria, archaea, and fungi in liquid and solid samples. Currently, my laboratory is conducting research with the Air Force Research Laboratories to assess the microbial contamination of Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security assets and infrastructure.
