Expertise DescriptionI have been practicing chiropractic medicine for more than 25 years. My focus areas are in motor vehicle collisions and injuries, administering of the Pain Validity Test to establish if a patient is indeed suffering and determining the proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment, along with a focus in whiplash, auto accidents, accidents, spinal ligament injury, and headaches. I have prior experience as a chiropractic expert witness by providing clients with consultations, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
Areas of Expertise
After 25 years of treating patients injured in motor vehicle collisions, I decided to put my experience to greater use. Among the services that I have offered to attorneys includes: file reviews where I post additional diagnoses that treating doctors have documented in their notes but failed to include in their diagnoses list; administration of the Pain Validity Test to establish a patient is indeed suffering and determine the proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment: CRMA-Computerized Radiographic Menstruation Analysis of flexion/extension radiographic studies to establish AOMSI-Alteration Of Motion Segment Integrity; using figures from CRMA’s and reviews I have performed whole person permanent impairment ratings per the AMA guides 6th edition; I have observed IMEs for attorneys and typically can rebut the examining doctors findings usually on the basis of improperly performed orthopedic and neurological testing. By properly diagnosing and documenting a case my efforts usually lead to a far greater settlement offer and quick resolution. On the 2 cases where I was asked to testify in arbitration the cases were quickly resolved to the benefit of the injured parties.
With file reviews and testing I am able to find additional diagnoses that are often overlooked. Far too many cases will go through two years of treatment based on sprain/strain injuries. Since most insurance companies will not pay for more than 2 or 3 months for these types of diagnoses it is imperative to determine the proper diagnoses that will explain the need for extended care. Failure to diagnose or misdiagnosis creates a major roadblock for any attorney. Furthermore, a lack of a proper diagnosis means the patient is not receiving the proper care that they require. CRMA testing can establish permanent impairment and often the need for surgical stabilization. With Pain Validity Testing we find up to half of misdiagnosed cases require facet injections or fusion surgery.
I have 28 years in private practice treating patient’s injured in motor vehicle collisions. For the past 10 years I have studied extensively with experts teaching all aspects of personal injury case management. Seeing the need for additional training in this area I founded the American Academy of Motor Vehicle Injuries placing and emphasis on properly diagnosing, documenting and managing a personal injury case. My lectures have been presented to chiropractors, medical doctors, and attorneys in Arizona and California. For the past 3 years, I have also been a contributing editor to Attorney at Law magazine.
