Expertise Description

With more than 30 years of Engineering experience, my focus has been on Electrical Engineering. My experience includes many fossil and nuclear fueled generating station projects, electrical equipment, performing calculations (system study, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, load analysis) and leading the construction effort of said generating stations. I have served as an engineering expert dealing with safe practices of operation of nuclear and fossil fuel generating stations and substations; as well as performed forensic engineering investigations for commercial, industrial and municipal agencies, such as the analysis of the effects of saltwater intrusion, due to Hurricane Sandy, on airfield lighting cables at international airports. I have also performed forensic engineering tasks while investigating fires and suspected electrical ignition sources while assisting insurance companies and the legal community. My expert witness work includes providing expert testimony in cases of electrical faults caused by excavation or other physical failure of raceway or conduit systems.

Consulting Experience

I have provided expert consulting services in a number of product liability cases concerned with (but not limited to) laptop computers, dehumidifiers, coffee makers, power tools, kitchen appliances (refrigerators, freezers, electric ranges), televisions, washers, dryers, dishwashers and residential wiring products. My investigations have dealt with identifying the causes of the malfunctions of these items and providing the engineering and scientific basis for my conclusions.

Professional Experiences

I have handled over two hundred investigations concerned with product liability, personal injuries as a result of noncompliance with safety codes and industry standards, damages associated with failure to comply with NFPA standards and negligence.

Relevant Experiences

I have a great deal of experience in evaluation of power generating and distribution systems.

Aside from being the corporate generator specialist while at Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation, I have had to perform an evaluation of existing power generating and power distribution systems as a consulting engineer. This involved, among other things, evaluation of a system’s conformance with NFPA 70 (also known as the National Electric Code) and ANSI/IEEE Standards. I have had to verify the efficiency of design (with respect to a reasonable return on investment) and compliance with all safety requirements.

I have had experience creating takeoff and estimate documentation and conformance with the appropriate National Fire Protection Association and any other governing standards.
