Expertise DescriptionI have more than 30 years in the area of Internet Technology and Online Marketing with expertise in creating ecommerce software for small businesses (including ecommerce software sold in book and computer stores), search-engine optimization, ecommerce conversions, and general online-business strategy. I am also skilled with PPC, advertising, marketing, public relations, web application, email newsletter publishing, and interface user design. I have over 5 years experience as an online marketing expert witness and have offered consultations, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes around 25 Internet-technology patent cases, including invalidity and non-infringement reports, IPRs, and CBM post-grant challenges in the areas of ecommerce, online billing, and affiliate marketing, and I have testified in a patent case in the Eastern District of Texas. I have also worked on about 15 Internet-related trademark cases including cases related to domain names and keyword placements in Web sites. In addition, I have worked on PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) cases, and have written two articles on the subject of PPC in an online legal journal, and also have assisted with a variety of contract disputes, unfair business practice lawsuits, social-networking cases, and online defamation cases.
My consulting experience includes helping numerous companies, including hundreds of medium and small firms with search engine optimization and a variety of ecommerce and online business issues. For instance, I wrote a report for a major company on how to optimize their product pages to increase the rank of those pages in the search results of major search engines, and helped an industrial-products firm increase online revenues 70-fold. My experience a broad range of Internet technology and business related areas, from Web-site development and Web-application development, social networking, PPC advertising, banner advertising, e-mail marketing, affiliate marketing, and more.
My professional experience includes working with software development teams in a range of roles, including system-architecture design, user-interface design, system testing, system installation and maintenance, and training users. I have designed a variety of Internet sites and applications, and project managed the teams creating these systems. In addition, I have written numerous books about Internet technology.
I have worked in the area of Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising for many years. I have run PPC campaigns since at least the early 2000s and have written about such issues in various other books and publications.
