I have functioned in the advanced capacity of Field Training Officer, Supervisor, employment management, and airway management. In doing so, I hold myself and those I supervise to a high standard of care delivered to the emergency patient and service provided to the public. I set a good example for other emergency providers to follow. As an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-Paramedic), I frequently interact with members of all walks of society. As an educator and paramedic program director, I regularly interact with adult students, hospital administrators and Fire/EMS Chiefs.

Relevant Experiences

As a veteran paramedic, Fire Captain and instructor in BLS CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Paramedic training, I can opine on the importance of early CPR in the case of cardiopulmonary arrest. I have been a licensed and working Paramedic for the past 28 years, having been employed in both the private ambulance service and fire service. I am currently a Fire Captain/Paramedic (Supervisor) working in the 9-1-1 system. I regularly work large crowd special events, functioning as the Captain/Supervisor of a Mobil Operations Detail team, responding on motorized scooters. Additionally, I have been a paramedic instructor and Paramedic Program Coordinator/Director for greater than 8 years, currently coordinating the San Diego Fire Department internal paramedic training program. Although I am highly experienced in the area of trauma management, including the partial or complete amputation of extremities, I do not have direct experience managing boating related accidents or water rescue. I have, however, received, treated and transported boating and water craft accident victims at shore-side after their extrication by lifeguards or U.S. Coast Guard.
