Expertise DescriptionI have over 30 years experience in Pathology. My expertise includes clinical pathology; transfusion medicine; blood banking; and laboratory medicine. I have more than 30 years expert witness experience with consultations, deposition, and courtroom testimony.
Areas of Expertise
I am a recognized expert in laboratory operations, blood banking and transfusion medicine practice. I am a Laboratory Medical Director at a large and very busy hospital. I am the Director of a group of transfusion medicine specialists who provide medical coverage for three university-affiliated hospital blood banks. I am a team leader of inspectors who perform Laboratory Accreditation Inspections. I have published articles on the risks of transfusion including the risks of TRALI. I am fully capable of assessing the degree of negligence of a blood bank and laboratory with regards to the cause of a TRALI event. Because transfusion practices extend to the patient’s point of care, I am also capable of assessing the degree of negligence regarding unnecessary transfusions that cause severe transfusion reactions and how those reactions should be managed.
Depending on what happened to trigger the lawsuit, I might be able to provide useful information for the plaintiff to deflect a MSJ by the defense. However, the information provided below is too sketchy for me to know for sure. Also, I am a pathologist. I am NOT an internist. I am a transfusion medicine specialist and Medical Director of Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine for a medical center.
I can render an opinion as to the standard of care during a blood transfusion, however, my opinion would be based on my education, training and experience as a blood banker/pathologist. My attached CV shows the scope of my education, training and experience.
