Relevant Experiences

I am a risk management safety expert in the areas of fitness, recreation, and sport. I am an aquatic, fitness, recreation, and sport risk management consultant. My expertise is in activity programming, equipment, and facilities, and overall risk and safety management. I have operated aquatic and fitness facilities in the private and public sectors and on university campuses. I have coached high school and collegiate sports as well as officiated high school and college football. I have taught in higher education for the past 45 years specializing in – facility planning and design, and aquatic, coaching, fitness, and sport management. I have also published numerous risk management articles and law briefs related to the above fields. I have also written two articles that appeared in a state and national professional journal related to concussions and how they should be handled. Finally, I have worked for attorneys for the past 20+ years. I have prepared reports, given depositions, testified in court, and have worked for the plaintiffs and defendants.

I have experience operating private and public fitness facilities. Many of my former students currently either own or operate health and fitness programs. I am very familiar with safety issues surrounding health and fitness clubs and equipment used in these facilities.

I have worked recent cases in New Jersey related to baseball and am currently working on two cases on baseball injuries – one a collegiate ball player and another a youth playing at a multi-field complex. I have coached youth and college baseball. I’ve also published numerous risk and safety management articles related to all of the above fields. Further, I have written 12 textbooks and two specifically related to facility planning and design and facility management. I have prepared reports, given depositions, testified in court, and have worked for the plaintiffs as well as defendants.

I have provided coaching seminars across the state of Indiana and have talked about concussions and the evaluation protocols that should be used by coaches and/or athletic trainer. I have also published numerous risk and safety management articles related to all of the above fields as well as a recent article on concussion in high school football in the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s quarterly magazine.

If an investigator could take pictures of the sauna’s exterior and interior including all warning signage, controls (timer and thermostats), I can use the photos to determine any issues related to the user.
I had a case in Lakeland, FL just south of Tampa last year were a man used the sauna and also the steam room and was burned severely.
