|After comparing expert witness requests during Q3, it’s clear that demand for medical expert witnesses has remained consistently strong throughout the year. Each quarter, requests for medical experts have more-than-doubled requests for any other vertical of experts. Demand for construction experts also remained strong in Q3, though requests for construction experts decreased by 21.7% compared with Q2. As such, premises liability was able to edge out construction as the second hottest vertical during the third quarter. Other hot verticals in Q3 include product liability, which constituted 7% of all expert requests, accident reconstruction (4%) real estate (4%) and environmental (3%).|
There were also some significant shifts in expert witness demand during Q3. There were 100% more requests for accounting expert witnesses in Q3 vs. Q2. Environmental expert witnesses received 88.9% more requests than in Q2. Patent infringement requests also seem to be on the rise, with 87.5% more requests than in Q2.
There was a notable decrease in requests for computer experts during Q3. This is interesting since requests for computer experts boomed in Q2 (rising 250% over Q1). However, this is not entirely surprising as there were some high-profile computer patent infringement cases during Q2 that may have inflated interest in computer experts.
