Expertise DescriptionI have over 25 years of consulting experience in law with an emphasis in real estate and finance. My expertise includes appraisals, commercial property, conventional and HUD facilities, mega-warehouses, mega-church facilities, school buildings, cemeteries, airports, steel mills and oil refineries. I have also worked with specialty appraisals, forensic appraising, conservation easements, properties affected by environmental contamination, pipeline easements, partial interests, and construction defects. I have provided deposition, courtroom testimony, and consultations for more than 15 years as a real estate law expert witness.
Areas of Expertise
In regard to my experience in the Indiana property tax arena, I have represented property owners and assessors in various capacities over the last ten years. Indiana has had numerous courtroom fights over the last two or three years with “big box” and national pharmacies in regard to Indiana’s “true tax value” – a concept unique to our state. I have spent considerable time in depositions and in trials.
I have also been heavily involved in other real estate cases over the years including environmental damages (petroleum, dry cleaner operations, CAFO’s and etc.); property rights (loss in value due to failure to enforce deed restriction); conservation easements (both preparation & review); and eminent domain conflicts.
