Expertise DescriptionI have more than 45 years experience in the field of Structural Engineering. My experience includes soil mechanics, soil dynamics, arctic engineering, earthquake engineering, and engineering seismology. My projects involve dams and embankments, high-rise buildings, major industrial and refinery installations, offshore platforms, port and harbor facilities, bridges, wind storms, nuclear power plants, liquid natural gas facilities, underground repositories for nuclear waste disposal, industrial disposal sites, and pipelines and transmission lines. I have prior expert witness experience.
Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes: damage during Northridge earthquake based on the analysis of strong motion recordings; claim related to wind storm damage; claim for settlement related to underground utility damage.
My consulting experience includes: seismic risk analysis and liquefaction studies for the design of new county jail complex; peer review of seismic design of piles; development of pile driving criteria; soil structure interaction analysis of existing pile foundations for seismic vulnerability evaluations; geotechnical, foundation, and ground motion design criteria for cable stayed alternate design (bridge); seismic risk, slope stability and liquefaction studies of ports, harbors, and waterfronts; blind prediction of earthquake free field and in-structure response for two model reactors (nuclear).
