Expertise DescriptionI have more than 25 years of experience teaching, researching and leading in graduate and undergraduate business programs. I spent 21 years on the faculty at a school of business. The past 7 years I have been Dean of the School of Business Administration at a university. Over this time, I have taught MBA students and executives, and I have consulted with numerous companies, large and small. My consulting work has focused on operations management, operations strategy, inventory management, low cost country sourcing, global supply chain management, and China strategies. I have served on the boards of several private companies and nonprofits. And I have served as an expert witness on inventory, production, supply chain, and sourcing issues for both plaintiff and defense. These cases involved intellectual property issues and securities issues. I have over 15 years of expert witness experience.
Areas of Expertise
I have served as an expert witness on inventory, production, supply chain, and sourcing issues for both plaintiff and defense. These cases involved intellectual property issues and securities issues. On one case, I was the expert dealing with inventory and production planning issues where the allegation pertained to collusion among a small number of large companies in an industry. Another case involved price fixing by a large company, and I was the expert addressing inventory, pricing and distribution strategies. Another case dealt with IP and patent infringement, where my role was to understand prior art in the inventory/supply chain software space.
I have consulted with numerous companies on tactical issues of inventory management and production scheduling. I have also worked with companies on their operations and manufacturing strategies, corporate strategies, Asia strategies, and supply chain strategies. These strategic projects typically involve significant information gathering, followed by a several-day retreat with the relevant management team. I have also taught executives in open-enrollment programs, as well as company-specific programs. These sessions have addressed most of the topics mentioned here. With three colleagues, I taught a week-long supply chain course. This course was offered up to 8 times per year for nearly 15 years.
I taught Inventory Management at the business school of a distinguished Ivy League university for many years. The course is based on my textbook as well as many consulting projects. I am currently revising the book for a 4th edition. In my many years teaching consultants at a leading global professional services company, I was exposed to inventory, production, and supply chain software systems.
