Expertise DescriptionI have 45 years experience as a physicist, civil/structural engineer, and professional land surveyor with accident reconstruction involving train derailments, track/switch operation, maintenance-of-way issues, and collisions, as well as design, construction, maintenance, and inspection of mainline, industrial, and short-line railroads and railroad-related infrastructure. I have prior expert witness experience.

My expert witness experience includes: Railroad grade crossing accidents – vehicular and pedestrian; Vehicle, equipment and pedestrian accidents along the railroad right-of-way; Railroad employee injuries from equipment / tools / trains; Injuries to non-railroad employees incurred from railroad equipment or trains; Injuries / damages resulting from track alignment, proximity; Damages from railroad drainage, bridges, culverts, realignments, etc.
My consulting services include: Inspect 12.6 miles of track for defects, needed repairs and associated costs; Inspect damage from drainage onto track at bridge; Design new track and turnouts at the Port of San Diego, CA; Structural design of new handrails; Design new railroad yard; Inspect existing overhead crane alignment – design new alignment; Inspect 17 miles of track for defects, needed repairs and costs; Design run around track and new spur track; Preliminary design of new Coaster railroad station; Safety inspection and establish criteria for Disneyland Railroad and Casey Jr.
