Expertise DescriptionI have over 20 years of experience in the Transportation industry. Since 1998 I have been a Certified Third Party Auditor, conducting National Safety Code (NSC) audits in Alberta, Canada. I measure carriers’ compliance to Federal and Provincial legislative requirements. Since 2000, I have been an approved External Auditor for a transport association, conducting OH&S audits on carriers. As a former Owner Operator, I have over 25 years of experience as an Auditor and instruction in Hours of Service Regulations (Provincial, Federal, and US). I am experience in Canadian and US transportation legislation requirements regarding hours of service, maintenance, driver qualification, weights and dimensions, and load securement. Previous consulting work includes creation of written policies and procedures, training, mentoring, monitoring, and auditing both trucking and bus companies to ensure compliance with applicable transportation and OH&S, and OSHA regulations.
Areas of Expertise
My consulting experience includes the creation of written safety and maintenance programs meeting legislative requirements and training drivers and office personnel, monitoring documentation foe compliance, notification of carriers for certification and renewal dates, as well as, conducting audits for carriers to establish baseline scores and then creating policies and procedures to ensure compliance, and monthly auditing of Hours of Service records to ensure regulation compliance.
I am aware of load securement requirements, maintenance requirements, as well as weight and dimensions laws. I am also familiar with driver qualification requirements and hours of service regulations.
