Expertise DescriptionI have over 40 years experience in the metal producing and rolling industry with arc furnaces, annealing furnaces, rolling mills, processing lines, and electrical substations. My areas of expertise include rolling mills, slitting lines, processing lines, annealing furnaces, electric arc furnaces, building maintenance, machinery maintenance, utility engineer, OSHA regulations, personnel safety, workplace safety, slips and falls, codes, industrial machinery, utility engineer, electrical substations, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, forensic engineering, fire cause and origin, electrocution investigation, and construction accidents. I have more than 20 years expert witness experience.
Areas of Expertise
My expert witness experience includes: OSHA rules; State codes and laws; Employer non-conformance with codes; Electrocutions; Equipment non-performance; Poor equipment design, both mechanical and electrical; Poor equipment maintenance; Improper electrical circuit grounding; Work-place injuries; Electrical transformer failures; Electrical circuit breaker failures; Improper employee training; Fire origin and cause; Industrial furnace failures that result in injuries.
My consulting services include: primary electric substations with voltages up to 115,000 volts; electrical distribution systems of 480 volts through 13,800 volts; hot metal rolling mills and cold metal rolling mills; primary aluminum reduction cells and the associated ancillary operations and machinery at such installations; aluminum soaking pits; aluminum melting furnaces; steel and aluminum annealing furnaces, some with hydrogen atmospheres; casting of molten steel and aluminum; steel electric arc furnaces; and virtually every sort of metal processing machinery used in facilities like continuous processing lines, large aluminum scalping machines, contour boring machines, slitting lines, chemical treatment lines, stamping machines, metal painting lines, etc.
I have personal experience in the industry and in the fabrication and installation of gutters on buildings, and safety standards, OSHA, etc.
I am an electrical engineer with a lot of experience in workplace safety. I have just finished a job where I was an expert for OSHA on a case where a piece of equipment in a steel mill caused an injury.
